Dear Valued Customer:

This letter provides notification about the features that will be obsolete, or discontinued, in the upcoming PowerServer 2022 R2 release. Obsolete features are features that are available but are no longer eligible for technical support and will no longer be enhanced. Discontinued features are features that are completely removed from the product, and therefore will require you remediate before being able to upgrade to PowerServer 2022 R2.

Discontinued Features:

  • Windows 8.1. Microsoft will discontinue Windows 8.1 support from January 10, 2023. Customers who use Windows 8.1 as the operation system of PowerServer Runtime can choose to upgrade to a supported Windows OS such as Windows 11.
  • Windows Server 2012 R2. Microsoft will discontinue Windows 2012 R2 support from October 10, 2023. Customers who use Windows 2012 R2 as the operation system of the runtime applications can choose to upgrade to a supported Windows OS such as Windows 11 and Windows Server 2022.
  • “Built-in OAuth server” auth template. The “Built-in OAuth server” auth template uses IdentityServer4 but IdentityServer4's support ends at the end of the year 2022. For customers who use this auth template to set up the authorization, please consider to take one of the migration paths suggested at /node/4477.
