Installation/Upgrade Process:
1. Before you upgrade to this Appeon PowerServer 2020 Build 2803, it is strongly recommended that you:
- Back up the environment/system.
- Back up the AEM configurations referring to this instruction.
- Export the application profiles so you can import them after the upgrade referring to this instruction.
- Make sure the support plan of the Appeon product key (that’s used for the upgrade) is still valid. You can check it in the AEM Support page. If your support plan of the Appeon product key (that’s used to for the upgrade) expired already, then you’ll not be able to do the upgrade at all and you’ll need to get the support plan renewed before the upgrade. Please contact our Sales team at sales@appeon.com for help.
2. An SHA256 hash code is provided for each installer. Please use the SHA256 code to verify the integrity of the downloaded installer file: You can get an sha256sum program from the Internet and follow the instructions of the program to compare the SHA256 value of the downloaded installer file and the SHA256 value that is provided for the installer.
3. Please stop your application server (for example IIS, WebLogic, etc.) before installation.
4. Please get the proper installer from the links below and then run the Appeon PowerServer 2020 Build 2803 setup file; please make sure all the components (Appeon PowerServer, and Appeon Workspace) have been upgraded together.
5. Please upgrade PowerServer Toolkit to version 2020 Build 2333 JP or later for working with this PowerServer version. Note that you must have PowerBuilder CloudPro license to use PowerServer Toolkit.
6. After the installation, please verify the product versions to make sure you have all pieces successfully upgraded: you need to start your application server and verify that AEM still works and displays the version Appeon PowerServer 2020 Build 2803.00, and you also need to open Appeon Workspace and verify it also displays Appeon Workspace Build 2803.00.
7. Redeploy apps in a “Full Deployment” mode: once you have all the pieces upgraded, you now would need to do a “Full Deployment” of your applications to the upgraded Appeon Server.
8. If the PowerServer (AEM) becomes inactivated after upgrading to PowerServer 2020 Build 2803, please click here to activate it.

Security Fix:
The security fix for Log4j in this maintenance release is for Java server only, we recommend all users using Java servers upgrade to this Appeon PowerServer 2020 Build 2781. The .NET server does not use Log4j and there is no need to upgrade to this release.
- The Apache Log4j Java logging framework and related files are removed due to the security vulnerability CVE-2021-44228. See PowerServer Security Bulletin for details.

4. If you use Appeon PowerBuilder 2019 with Appeon PowerServer 2019, please upgrade Appeon PowerBuilder 2019 to the latest MR Build 2151 using PowerBuilder Installer. If you use Appeon PowerBuilder 2017 R3, please update Appeon PowerBuilder 2017 R3 to the latest MR (Build 1895).
5. After the installation, please verify the product versions to make sure you have all pieces successfully upgraded:
