Hi Uri,

Thanks for the detailed explanation.

According to the verification on the latest internal PowerBuilder 2022, the problem with the rich text column not displaying all pages has been fixed in "Print Preview" and "Print".

In addition, the other problem in the first case test where you get an extra blank page has not been resolved due to the complexity of the technical implementation and other reasons. We still need to wait for the development to continue their analysis and scheduling. Hope you can understanding.

Mark Lee

Hi Nestor,

Sorry to let you know that we can't set up a meeting with you this week.
It is recommended we schedule the meeting for next Wednesday on Sept. 22nd
(Sept. 20 & 21 are our Mid-Autumn Festival) during our working time which
is 9:00 ~ 17:00 (we are in UTC+8 ) thus we can get immediate help from the
other team if necessary.

Best regards,
Mark Lee
Hello everybody! I reviewed the last demo for this ticket and would like to describe the bug more exactly. Here is the refined beginning of the *Reproduce Steps section: Run the attached application. Load ABC-p1-p2.rtf, a file containing a hard page break. *Only the first page of the document is displayed at this stage. Click "Print Preview" or "Print" and examine the result. The second page is blank. etc. The need is to fix the rich text column so that all pages will display and maybe that will fix the print preview. Thank you Uri

Bug 5516 demo.zip (246KB)

Hi everybody!
I am attaching a new demo app for this ticket.
*Reproduce Steps:
Run the attached application.
Load ABC-p1-p2.rtf, a file containing a hard page break.
Click "Print Preview" or "Print" and examine the result. The second page is
blank.
Load ABC-E.rtf, a file implicitly containing a soft page break.
Make sure the dw is in Print Preview mode and examine the result. On the
beginning of the second page the first line is printed over the top print
preview margin.
If you click "Print" the result may look like the attached file
DataWindow.pdf (depending on your printer) - the first line on the second
page is cut off horizontally, every character being split horizontally
between the pages.
Best regards
Uri
Team, Would it be possible to schedule a call to show the issue with the updated app please ? Thanks Nestor

Hello,
Is there any progress on this bug?
For us, giving it priority (at least over our other bugs) would be most welcome as rich text plays an important part in our program and this bug hinders our progress.

Uri

Hi Uri,

Sorry for the late reply.
I can reproduce it on our side in PB 12.6, PB 2019 R2 2353, and PB 2019 R3 Beta with the Rich Text control.
But we don't have a suitable workaround for you at this moment. We will do further research to figure it out and will keep you updated here!

And maybe Chris is right, it seems that the Print Preview is the culprit.

Mark Lee

Modified Test Case (by Chris)
Chris Pollach @Appeon 29 October, 2020

Hi Uri;

Thank you for the Test Case App!

Your test case was using a propriety version of the TX control - version 24. So I was not able to run your App.

I was able to use R3 Beta's TC control which is version 28. Using that control, the test case app printed two pages. One with data and the second on blank.

I modified you test case to ass a "Print Preview" CB. When running your test case App and after data was loaded, the print preview displays two pages only. One with data and one black in the DW Control. So DWO printing is not the problem.

However, before the print preview - I could see all the RTF data (as I do in MS-Word) and scroll through it in the DW Control. So it looks like Print Preview and/or the actual print operation might be the culprit.

I will now transfer this ticket over to the main Support / Engineering Team for their review & feedback.

Regards .... Chris
