Yes, re-install works. I now can access Design=>Data Source. Thank-you

 I wonder if a re-install for PB2017Rx might be in order?

 Suggestion: Check the registry entries for PB2017Rx on another developer's PC.

Yes, the issue occurs for all data window objects. Same or different targets. I don't know why the entry for PB2017 was not there at registry. I am busy till Thursday. Will let you know.

Thanks Uyen;

    Wow ... that is definitely a PB2017R2 release but then the "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Sybase\PowerBuilder\17.0" registry entry should be there, otherwise the IDE would not operate.

   Does this iss with this particular DWO happen on any other PB 2017R2 IDE when you try and enter the SQL Painter from the DW Painter?

PB Error about Data Window - PB 2017 Build 1681.JPG (95KB)

I am using PB2017 Build 1681.

  If this registry entry is not there ... then, are you using PB 12.5 instead of Appeon PB 2017Rx as listed in the ticket?
Uyen Pham 11 February, 2019
I ran "regedit", but I didn't have entry \17.0\ from my registry. Mine shows "12.5" instead. What do I do ? My is
"Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Sybase\PowerBuilder\12.5".

Hi Uyen;

  I am sorry that this "simple" reset did not fix your stability issue in the PB IDE. Please try this next step for a full toolbar / painter reset ...

1) Close your PB IDE
2) Start the RegEdit.exe MS-Window utility at the command
3) Navigate to "Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Sybase\PowerBuilder\17.0\Toolbar"
4) Delete the entire "Toolbar" entry
5) Restart the PB IDE.

HTH

Hi Chris, the issue still persists after I tried View => Layouts => (Default). You are right, I think it somehow related to the setting for my data window object as well. Not sure what I did last week, but my datawindow object has been changed and I didn't like that layout, I changed it back to "Default". Since then, PB crashed on me every time I used "Design=>Data Source". I am looking forward to your advice. Thanks.

Hi Uyen;

   This might be caused by improper toolbar / menu settings in either the DW and/or SQL painters.

   My first suggestion would be to reset the DW Painter's layout and try to see if that stabilizes the IDE. You would find this option in the DW Painter, under the menu sequence: View => Layouts => (Default).

   Please let us know how that works to resolve your issue.
