Hi BFMS,

The w_section_rpt_selection.srw cannot be imported still into the PBL with
the provided test case because the related objects that are referenced are
missing.
Therefore we are not able to reproduce the problems stated either. Please
re-equip us a test case that can reproduce the issue on our side to move
forward. Many thanks.

Regards,
Mark Lee
Hi Mark, Can we set up a remote session in your comfortable time zone? so that i can drive you over the issue to make it easy for you as well as for us. Let us know the time and the way you want to connect. Thanks, Bfms team

Hi BFMS,

Thanks for the updated test case.

1 . I modified the related source code and it can now correctly execute the
pasteRTF function and show the correct string.
The problem is caused by that the formatting of the pasteRTF function does
not correspond to the rich text formatting. Please see the below help for
more:
https://www.appeon.com/support/documents/appeon_online_help/pb2017r3/
powerscript_reference/ch10s437.html

2. The current pastertf data order actually behaves the same as that in PB
12.6.
After in-depth analysis over the provided word file, we believe that the
order issue should not be a bug, but that newer richtext has fixed the
previously improper default data insertion location.
Therefore, it is suggested to go with your current solution (make a change
in the code).

3. If you have any other questions please let us know or if needed, we can
have a meeting to discuss it. We would recommend you to make the remote
session during our working time which is 9:00 ~ 17:00 (we are in UTC +8 ) so
we can get immediate help from other teams if necessary. Please let us know
if you need this session.

Regards,
Mark Lee
Thank you Mark for your Analysis and getting back to us. Can you also please address the second point that is mentioned in the test case document ? It is about the print preview Options. None of the options (First page, Page Up, Zoom, Page down, Last Page, Print(Prints only first page) and preview. that came up with the report are found working. Is there anything we should do to make these options visible? Do we have to enable anything? FYI, I uploaded the test-case document here again . Please check the attachment

Hi BFMS,

Sorry for the late reply!
Thanks for providing the test case.
We’ve analyzed it for some time but still can’t reproduce the issue.
Additionally, we can’t import the w_section_rpt_selection.srw object and
there are missing objects in the inheritance chain.
Therefore, please provide a simple reproducible test case (PBL + data) for
us to further analyze the issue.

Regards,
Mark Lee
Hi Mark, We created a sample test case as per our need. we are trying to loop a particular string using pasteRTF function. so that we could check the behavior once the object gets pasted. but we are unable to view the string that has been pasted using pasteRTF function. Nothing is appearing after hitting the 'Show' button. This was a simple prototype of what we are actually doing in the application. Attached(zipped) are the objects below. Thanks in advance!!

Hi Chris,

Yes it is. Paste rtf function is being used to send content in rtf. Please check the attachment and highlighted part in the script.

Hi BFMS,

Thank for that updated description and screen snapshots. Am I correct that the main reporting DW object is a "Dummy" DWO with one computed column and the datum is driven into this DWO via straight PowerScript code vs SQL?

2262_testCase.docx (1990KB)

Hi Mark,

Thanks for getting back to us. I tried my best to put everything in the test
case description. I also uploaded the corresponding pbl's and objects
associated with the issue. The attachment contains a word document
explaining two critical issue that we are facing.
1) Couldn't be able to preview reports properly with desired options.
2) Couldn't be able to sort the content in the report unless we make a
change in the code. Considering this as a temporary solution we are looking
for a better solution.
Please check the attachment.
Thankyou, BFMS team

Hi BFMS,

Thanks for reporting this problem! We apologize for not being able to get back to your earlier. As this issue is relatively complicated, it is difficult for us to reproduce the issue.
Please provide a reproducible test case (including PBL) for us to analyze the issue. Otherwise, it is hard for us to make any progress.

Thanks in advance!

Mark Lee

Hi BFMS;

Thank you for letting us know. Sorry that this alternative did not work for you.

I will now transfer this ticket on to the main Support/Engineering team for their review & recommendations.

We were using the latest Built-in TX text Control feature that was incorporated in the newer version, but the issue remains the same.
Chris Pollach 07 February, 2019
Hi BFMS;

The older PB versions used the TX Control whereas PB2017 GA as of June , 2017 was released with the TE Control (under the hood) that supports the workings of the RTE Control and RT DataWindow.

The TE Control has slightly different behaviours and you can read about them in the PB2017Rx Help file by searching on "New RichTextEdit control".

Appeon just released PB2017R3 MR01 (maintenance release) that now includes the previous TX Control and the new TE Control. You can change which 3rd party RTE "engine" you want your App to use in the Application Painter's "Additional Properties" dialogue.

You might like to try the TX control and see if your App's RTE behaviour is more like what you had in PB 9.x.

*Phenomenon:
Reports utilizing rich text editor are generated incorrectly. The issues are discussed as below
1. Content in the reports are not sorted in order. Refer attachment_1 compare with attachment_2(report which is correct)
2. Header shows up at the bottom of the report and whole document is trying to utilize a single page. In other words all the page numbers are numbered only 1 unlike 1,2,3 and so on..
3. The last page of the document is hiding behind the window from which the report is clicked to view, Should have to exit the window in order to view the final page.

*Reproduce Steps:
Selected the criteria that is needed to print/view the report.
Hit the view button in order to preview the report

Remarks:
Created the data store using the folowing SQL:
ls_sql = "select category_id, category_title, narrative_id from category where section_id = "+string(il_section_id)+" and enabled_ind = 1 and narrative_id is not null order by print_order "

This same SQL statement works good in power builder 9. I need to modify it as print order DESC in the latest (2017R3) version in order to make the contents displayed in required manner but points 2,3 mentioned in the phenomena did not resolve.

FYI,
Selected the Built-in text control feature which has been incorporated in New MR #1880 patch
